Knoxville: Sweet P's BBQ (Day 1)

The first day of our cross-country trek took us to Knoxville, TN. While the drive was long, it went by smoothly and we had some fun along the way. Oliver was an absolute legend, just straight sleeping in the back seat for 5 straight hours.

The day ended in a fantastic way, at a secluded BBQ joint in a rural area outside of town. My friend Kristen recommended Sweet P's, and the recommendation was a strong one. We had fun sitting outside, devouring amazing food, and sipping a cold beer. We went with a full sampler platter of pulled pork, brisket, ribs, slaw, mac and cheese, and potato salad... Plus a full burrito. It was absolutely delicious. Oh wait, there was also a bacon chocolate chip cookie; can't forget that necessity.

On to day 2 today, with a short trip to Nashville where we will spend a few days. Country music, here we come!

Newlywed Picnic in the Park

When something as incomparably monumental as a marriage happens, returning to real life seems inconceivable. The buildup to the event, and the overwhelming emotion of the weekend, culminates in the most perfect way... but then what? Adam and I were so fortunate to be able to take two weeks off surrounding the wedding to just relax and enjoy Baltimore before we depart. The week before was helpful for prep, but the week after was so special and memorable in its own way. While there was an awful lot of celebrating, and way too many drinks, there were abundant sweet, quiet moments together as well.

Spending an afternoon together with a picnic at Fort McHenry was a romantic afternoon that I won't soon forget. We drank champagne, ate cheese and baguettes, and talked endlessly about our perfect wedding day. I loved approximately one million photos we took, so believe it or not, this is edited. It's safe to say we're still on cloud nine.

Tomorrow, we depart for our road trip to Austin, TX. It's a big move, but we couldn't be more excited! We'll keep you posted on what the vast expanse of I-40 has to offer. Goodbye, Charm City!

Mr. & Mrs. Slagter

For the past week, I have been reliving each and every moment of our wedding day as a constant loop in my mind. Several times, I debated writing about the day, whether in a journal or here from my own little podium; each time, words fell short. There is no way to briefly describe the joy and overwhelming love felt during this perfect day, so I've decided not to force an all-encompassing summary. Instead, I'll wait to share with you the details of the day, from heartfelt moments to projects and decor, as the professional photos begin to emerge. So for now, here's a brief glimpse via Instagram, with much more to come in the future.

With love,
Mrs. Slagter
